Our
Dealership From
1967 To Now
|

J&M Camper Sales
was founded in
1967 by Ron and
Ernestine
Stoddard with 2
slide in truck
campers. The
original
location on
Townsend Road in
Augusta was
quickly out
grown and in
1971 had to be
relocated to its
current location
on Civic Center
Drive in
Augusta.
Since the
relocation the
dealership has
grown from a
1,300 square
foot building to
a 7,500 square
foot dealership
on 10 acres.
In 1967 when the
dealership was
founded The
Stoddard’s son
Jeff was just 4
years old. From
that time Jeff
was always
helping dad fix
campers and
snowmobiles as
well a cleaning
campers and
prepping them
for sale. In
1981 Jeff joined
the dealership
full time as a
service
technician and
quickly moved up
to service
manager.
Today, Jeff is
the Vice
President
of the
dealership and
continues to run
the dealership
along side Ron
(President),
Ernestine
(treasurer and
finance manager)
and Pete
Sawtelle our
General Manager
. Since Jeff
joined the
dealership, J&M
has added
products line
like Sea-Doo
personal
watercraft and
sport boats,
Husqvarna and
McCulloch
outdoor power
equipment, cargo trailers,
utility
trailers,
snowmobile
trailers,
aluminum docks
and much more.
In 2001 the
Stoddard’s
founded The
Pleasure Island
Dock Company.
This company
quickly became
one of the
largest and most
respected
aluminum dock
manufacturers in
all of New
England.
In 2004 Jessica
Stoddard joined
the J&M Camper
family as part
time help.
Jessica is the
Daughter of Jeff
and is now the
third generation
of the Stoddard
family to work
for the company.
Hopes are the
when Jessica
finishes college
that she will be
the next
generation to
run the family
business.
In 2006
Pete Sawtelle
was added to the
management team
at J&M Camper
Sales. Pete had
previously
operated a very
successful lawn
and garden
business here in
North Augusta.
He knows what it
takes to have
happy customers.
Pete is the
general manager
and has many
responsibilities
here at J&M
Camper including
sales and
customer
relations.
